Hey, there I’m Kate, the photographer and creative behind By Kate. I’m drawn to thoughtful details, beautiful spaces, interesting people, and the moments that make a story feel personal.
My approach is intuitive and collaborative, with a love for imagery that feels elevated without feeling overly polished. Whether I’m photographing a brand, a space, or the people behind it, I’m always looking for what makes it distinctly yours.
MY STORY
My work has always lived somewhere between photography, design, and storytelling. I studied fashion merchandising and business, which eventually led me onto photoshoot sets assisting with styling. When I later picked up the camera myself, something clicked—it felt natural, and I knew it was something I wanted to keep exploring.
In late 2024, I started By Kate as a way to pursue that passion more intentionally, bringing together photography with my background in styling, design, creative direction, and brand strategy. I’m a native Texan and have called Jackson Hole home since 2013. Growing up on ranches, gardening with my grandmother, antiquing with my mother, and always having a love for exploring gave me an early appreciation for things with history and character—something that continues to shape the stories, places, and people I’m most drawn to.
MY WHY
For me, photography has always been about more than creating a beautiful image. It’s about noticing what gives something character—the feeling of a place, an in-between moment, a thoughtful detail, or the personality behind a brand.
I want my work to feel honest, lived-in, and lasting. The kind of imagery that not only shows what something looked like, but brings you back to how it felt.
That connection is what keeps me inspired: telling stories thoughtfully, creating with intention, and finding beauty in the details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
